Charles SCALES & Ellen SMITH


        Charles & Ellen SCALES are my maternal grandmother's parents i.e. my Great Grandparents.
        And apart from a few dates, and photographs that my mother has, I know very little else about them!

        Charles SCALES was born 21 May 1852, in either Baldock or Hertford, in Hertfordshire, U.K.  I haven't, 
        as yet, acquired a copy of his birth certificate - but it's on my list!

        Ellen SMITH was born 11 April 1847 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
        My mother has a sampler stitched by Ellen in 1861, when she was aged just 14. 

        Charles and Ellen were married 24 September 1874, in Stevenage - this was one of the first records that 
        I found on first using the I.G.I. Index

        Without my grandmother, Florence Harriet's birthday book, I wouldn't have many, if any, of the above dates.
